Before posting a question in the support forum, please first make sure you are running the most current version (check the downloads page against the version number displayed in OLSpamCop's about tab in the settings section) and that you have checked the FAQ below to see if your question has already been answered. Please do not ask questions regarding OLSpamCop on Spamcop's forums or newsgroups.
When starting Outlook after installing OLSpamCop, I get the
error message "Collaboration Data Objects not installed. Please install CDO
before you use this program."
When I click a mailto link on a webpage, Outlook hangs for ages
and then an error message appears about CDO not being installed
Why does Spamcop never parse the body of my reported spam and
not find the links in the email?
Why does Spamcop display an error saying "error: couldn't parse
head" on my reports?
When I click on one of the buttons, I get an error "Object
variable or with block variable not set" and the OLSpamCop buttons become
unresponsive
When I click one of the buttons I get an error that looks like
"Method '~' of object '~' failed"
You either have not installed CDO, or the CDO detection function does not work on your machine. If you have not installed CDO, see the instructions in the documentation. If you have definitely installed CDO and are still getting this message, then you can try bypassing the CDO check by:
If you get more errors after performing this step then CDO is probably damaged on your machine and you should try reinstalling Outlook and CDO.
This is related to the question above, in that the CDO detection routine has problems running if you have not already loaded Outlook and attempt to click a mailto link. To resolve this issue, either make sure Outlook is loaded before clicking any mailto links, or implement the bypass mentioned above. The program may still hang for a few seconds, but will not crash.
Spamcop will not parse email bodies if the body type does not match the 'Content-type' header in the email. You can either report the links manually or turn on the 'Clean headers' option of OLSpamCop.
If you use Exchange as your mailserver, it adds a header to all incoming emails saying something like 'Microsoft Mail Headers 2.0' which is unparsable by Spamcop. You will need to turn on the 'Clean headers' option in OLSpamCop to resolve this error.
This appears to be because of a function that removes the 'new mail' icon from the system tray when one of the buttons are clicked. If you are having this problem then try this workaround:
This is usually because the store that Outlook is trying to contact is busy or damaged. Try waiting for a few seconds or restarting Outlook.
